Aastrom Biosciences Inc. (ASTM) said results of a Phase I/II clinical trial showed that bone-repair cells improved healing rates in bone fractures. The Ann Arbor, Mich., cell-products company said patients with nonunion tibia, humerus or femur fractures that had failed to heal after one or more medical procedures showed an overall healing rate of 91% after one year. Aastrom shares rose 10 cents, or 7.9%, to $1.26 in after-hours trading.
